Palawan Island is the largest island in Palawan province of the Philippines and the fifth largest island in the country. The northwest coast of the island lies in the South China Sea, while the southeast coast is part of the northern Sulu Sea. Much of the island is still traditional, and some consider it underdeveloped. Rich wildlife, jungles, mountains and some white sand beaches create incredible natural sea and land views.
From February 16 to 23, 2011, I recorded at many locations on Palawan Island for a week in search of its natural scenery. I asked Mr. iteku park ranger about the best recording site on the island, who was also the recorder and coordinated the recording. Some comfortable sounds were recorded, such as static and dynamic contrast sounds on both sides of the island, birds’ calls in the mangroves in the early morning, waves hitting coral beaches at high tide at night, wind blowing through palm and bamboo forests, sudden gusts of wind and sound of waves hitting rocks. Enjoy the natural power of Palawan.
